What We Do

The Office of Student Activities strives to enhance the Carroll experience by providing students with social opportunities and numerous ways to get involved both on campus and in the community.  If you're looking for weekend programming, student organizations, fraternity/sorority life, leadership development, Travel Series, RecSports, Orientation, or the Pioneers Volunteer program, you've come to the right place!

Student Activities is Hiring!

Student Activities Workers (SAWs) play an integral role in creating a positive and involved atmosphere at Carroll University! We are looking for hardworking, organized, and creative students to help plan large and small scale events through out the school year.
Committees Hiring:
  • Programming (Carroll's Got Talent, Alcohol Awareness events, CU@Night, Travel Series, Daytime Programs)
  • Pioneers Volunteer (Alternative Spring Break, Service Saturdays, Season of Giving etc.)
  • Fraternity & Sorority Life (Greek Retreat, New Member Retreat, Leadership Development programs, Officer Training, etc)
  • Graphic Design/Social Media
  • Student Organizations

Selection Timeline:

  • Monday, January 24th - Applications Open
  • Friday, February 25th - Applications Due
  • Monday, February 28th - Friday, March 11th - Interviews
  • Decision Letters will be sent out via email by Monday, March 22nd at the latest for all applicants
  • Applicants who are offered a position must accept by Friday, March 25th at Noon

Dan DeMerit | Director of Campus Recreation

Dan oversees Campus Recreation and Wellness at Carroll. He can answer questions about drop-in recreation, Competitive Sports- including Intramural Sports and Club Sports, Carroll Outdoor Recreation Equipment (CORE)- including the Bike Shop and outdoor gear rental garage, the Cheer and Dance teams, RecSports special events, Group Fitness class offerings, available facilities and more. Alex Smith | Assistant Director of Student Activities

Alex oversees the Pioneers Volunteer program and Fraternity/Sorority Life on campus. She can get you connected to volunteer opportunities within the Waukesha and Milwaukee areas and answer any questions about serving with your organization, finding a long-term connection, or participating in Alternative Spring Breaks. Susan Hornung | Assistant Director of the Campus Center
Susan oversees the Campus Center building plus the Information Desk and Pioneer Card Office. She can help you get a new or replacement Pioneer Card or troubleshoot issues with your current card. Susan also oversees door access privileges within the Campus Center, for areas such as Esports and WCCX. She is also happy to help promote your events via posters, flyers, digital signage, banners, etc. in the Campus Center.

Jake Wirsching | RecSports Graduate Assistant
Jake hires and supervises the RecSports student employees; manages content on the RecSports website; and markets RecSports activities/events such as Group Fitness through the YMCA, Intramural Sports, open gyms, Club Sports events, Outdoor Recreation, etc. He also promotes, organizes, and develops special events, incentive programs, wellness opportunities, weekend tournaments.

Jay Sandoval | Program Assistant

Kristian Pullam | Head Coach of Esports/Assistant Director of Campus Recreation
Kris oversees the entire Esports program including hiring and training coaches, coaches student-athletes during practices and competitions, creates practice schedules and competitions; and manages the Carroll Esports Center. Additionally, Kris will hire and train student staff (Esports Associates, Intramural Officials, and Recreation Managers), help manage the Pioneer Fitness Center at Pioneer Hall, and be in charge of Intramurals and Club Sports.
