Housing Applications

All full-time undergraduate students must complete either a housing application or an application to live off-campus. Applications are available by clicking on the “PioHousing Portal” below. Before you do so, please read the policies, tips and instructions carefully.  Information that is requested in the applications will aid both you and the University in ensuring a successful transition to Carroll.

Residency Policy

a) All full-time undergraduate students who enroll at Carroll University are subject to a junior residency requirement. This requirement remains in effect until a student has achieved senior standing (92 credits) by the beginning of the academic year or is 23 years of age or older. Exceptions to this policy may include those students who are married or in a partnership legally recognized by a state, are the primary caregiver to a child, students who have a documented medical condition, and those students who are living with parents or legal guardians within fifty (50) miles from campus during the academic year for which they are enrolled.
 
b) Each year, full-time undergraduate students who wish to live off-campus must submit an Off-Campus Application to request an approved exemption from the residency requirement. If the Off-Campus Application request is denied, students will be subject to the residency requirement and will need to complete the On-Campus Housing Application. The following documentation is required when submitting the Off-Campus Application for exemption:
     i. Students who are married or with a domestic partner must present a legal marriage certificate
     ii. Students who are the primary caregiver to a child/dependent must show proof of tax return, insurance card or dependent’s birth      certificate
     iii. Students with a documented medical condition must be approved through Carroll University Accessibility Services
     iv. Students who plan on living with their parent/legal guardian within 50 miles of campus must provide verification of residency at the parent/guardian address
     v. Students who are studying abroad, have an internship or participate in clinical programs must provide a copy of enrollment details
     vi. Students who may have other unique situations must submit a personal statement and any supporting documentation
 
c) Students who have not been approved for release from the residency requirement and/or fail to submit an application and license agreement for campus housing will be charged for a traditional double room and the minimum resident meal plan until the terms of the residency requirement have been satisfied.

Step 1: Click on the PioHousing Portal. Click on 'Housing Applications' located in the top menu.

Step 2: Select the Academic Year 22-23 and click  'Continue'.

Step 3: Review your Personal Details. Select "Applying for On-Campus Housing"

Step 3: Review your Personal Details. Select "Applying for Off-Campus Housing".

Step 4:  Review your Emergency Contact Information and complete the Missing Person Information.

Step 4: Complete Housing Exemption Form, providing necessary documentation as requested.

Step 5:  Review and agree to the Student Housing License Agreement

Step 5: Read and agree to the application terms and conditions.

Step 6. Pay the $250 deposit

Step 6:  Enter Parent/Guardian Information, if applicable. 

Step 7. Select Room Preferences.

Step 7: Receive exemption decision.
 

*** Some students may automatically be granted exemption based on their age or credit standing. Please see the Residency Policy for more details.

  • Housing Applications for the Academic Year 2022-2023 will be available in October 2021.
  • Priority will be given to applications received by May 1, 2022.  
             
  • Housing applications for the Academic Year 2022-2023 will be available in February 2022.
  • To participate in the housing selection lottery, you must apply for housing by the deadline provided.
  • Housing applications for Spring 2023 will be available beginning November 1, 2022.

         
  • Return to "PioHousing Portal" to select your roommate(s), update or change your roommate matching answers and room preferences by May 1, 2022.
  • Return to "PioHousing Portal" to select your roommate(s), update or change your roommate matching answers and room preferences before self-selection.
  • Return to "PioHousing Portal" to update or change your roommate matching answers and room preferences by January 1, 2023.
  • You will self select your housing assignment after May 1, 2022 for the Academic Year 2022-2023.  
         
  • Housing selection will occur prior to March 1, 2022. Watch your e-mail for more information.
  
  • You will be notified of your housing assignment after January 1, 2023.
  • You will select your meal plan after your housing placement is determined.

Tips to Prepare

  • Review and understand the residency policies to ensure you are completing the appropriate application.
  • If you are applying to live on campus, make sure you have everything you need to make your $250 online housing deposit (credit card information or bank account and routing numbers).
