Project Pioneer is a pre-college enrichment program that is offered on select Saturdays throughout the academic year. The program’s goal is to prepare students with the mindset, skills and knowledge necessary for success at the college level.  Students from across the greater Milwaukee area are invited to campus to participate in a series of workshops, classes and field trips that allow them to build these college-ready competencies.  Through these activities,  students have the opportunity to develop practical, cognitive and behavioral skills that will help them to succeed in the academic or career field of their choice.

Project Pioneer is Carroll University’s Saturday pre-college enrichment program which focuses on helping high school students build the skills, knowledge and mindset necessary to succeed in college and beyond.  This year, Project Pioneer’s program “Initiating Change in my Community” will mirror Carroll University’s 2015-2016 campus theme, “change.” Fifty high schoolers from across Waukesha and Milwaukee will engage in three, month-long academies that will lead them through exploring their community and identifying a challenge within it, researching that challenge and finding solutions, and taking action. During this process, students will address a real challenge that their community faces while also building skills around the 4Cs: Critical Thinking and Problem Solving, Creativity and Innovation, Communication and Collaboration.  Students will learn that their voice matters and that when they speak up and take action, they can make positive changes in the world around them.


  • To help participants develop practical, cognitive and behavioral skills that will help them to succeed in any academic, social, or career experience.
  • To enrich participants social and cultural experiences by providing them opportunities to reflect on their life experiences and relevant personal and social issues in a supportive learning and academic environment.
  • To provide opportunities for participants to practice academic skills such as reading, writing and research during a deliberate engaged activities.
  • To help participants to explore their interests, skills, and options for higher education and future careers.
  • To help participants develop skills that will help them find future opportunities and succeed in the academic and career endeavors beyond high school.
