University life can be exciting, although some experiences may be difficult to handle. Licensed, professional therapists at the Walter Young Center are available to help students sort through these challenges. The service is free for all Carroll students and is completely confidential.

Walter Young Center counselors are currently available for telehealth (phone or video) counseling services, as well as limited in-person appointments for emergency and crisis situations only. To schedule an appointment, e-mail us at wyc@carrollu.edu or call 262-524-7335.

  • If you do not have access to a computer, or do not have a confidential space to complete your session, please contact us and we will work to accommodate this.
  • Please note: due to licensure restrictions we are not able to work with students via telehealth who are studying remotely in Illinois. However, we are happy to consult with students and assist in connecting to mental health resources in their area.

Business hours during the academic year are 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday.

We are located at 117 Wright Street, just east of the campus center parking lot entrance in the lannon stone house. Please enter at the front door on Wright Street.

We provide short-term solution-focused counseling, helping students to gain insight and learn healthier ways of coping with challenges. We offer individual counseling, group counseling, and crisis intervention services during our business hours. We also provide referrals to community providers if longer-term counseling is needed. During your initial appointment, your therapist will help you develop a plan of action that best fits your situation.
