Carroll University is committed to promoting good health to help ensure students’ academic success. With this in mind, Carroll requires all full time undergraduate and international students to have health insurance coverage.

  • All full time students are charged the health insurance fee upon registration.
  • If a Student has comparable coverage under another insurance policy, he or she must complete a waiver (under handouts on right) to remove the fee from their student account.
  • The deadline to waive the University-sponsored health insurance is one month after classes begin. Students who do not complete the waiver to remove the fee before the deadline will be enrolled in the insurance companies database and sent a card to use.
  • Students who are in need of the University sponsored student insurance plan can review the brochure under handout section, then go on their student webpage, click on MY INFO, click on Health Insurance enrollment/waiver and click on enrollment.  You can then choose the option that works for you.  You can click on the 3 options to get more information.
Please email Vicky Alf at valf@carrollu.edu with any questions.  She can also be reached M-F 8 am-4:30 pm at 262-524-7372.

Has your family’s health insurance changed because of the Affordable Care Act?

As you have no doubt heard, the Affordable Care Act’s deadline for all United States Citizens to carry ACA-qualified health insurance is January 1, 2014. For many families, employer provided health insurance options have changed this year. Some employers are narrowing networks, increasing deductibles, shifting more of the cost of healthcare to employees, and requiring spouses to be insured under their own employer plan, if eligible.

If you find that changes to your current employer’s plan have made insuring your student costly, you can sign your student up for the student insurance plan sponsored by Carroll University. Carroll participates in the Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities Student Health Insurance Program (WSHIP).  WSHIP provides students with many advantages – Carroll students are pooled with students from many other Wisconsin private non-profit colleges, allowing WSHIP to provide ACA-qualified insurance options with a broader network, more comprehensive coverage, and at a lower cost than most students would be able to obtain on their own.

Please note the plan is only available to full time students.
