Greetings and salutations are extended to you from the staff of the Office of Cultural Diversity. It is with a sense of excitement and honor that we welcome you to the academic year 2015-2016 at Carroll University. We are excited that you are part of our community.
As evidenced by your previous academic accomplishments and admission into Carroll and other academically demanding institutions of higher learning, you possess the potential to do well and to graduate. Unexpected obstacles can, however, impede your progress.
Being an “only” in the classroom, experiencing “that” look, feeling overwhelmed, facing difference for the first time, receiving a grade less than an “A” for the first time ever, needing to adapt your high school study strategies to university study strategies, no parent to tell you to get up and innumerable other concerns, distractions, and matters unrelated to ability can derail the best student. The culture of the university, the culture of Carroll can be overwhelming without a helping hand.
The Office of Cultural Diversity is a resource devoted to the academic, social and personal achievement of students of color and other traditionally underserved students. It also serves to foster and maintain a Carroll University community that is welcoming, supportive, fair, open, and dedicated to inclusive excellence. We look forward to being of service to you.
Again, welcome to Carroll University!
