Insurance Information

Your health and well-being are important to your academic success at Carroll University. For this reason, the University requires all registered full-time and international students to carry adequate health insurance, either through one of the University sponsored health insurance plans, or other coverage such as a parent's employer.

Each academic year a student is enrolled at Carroll University, he or she must choose to either enroll in, or waive participation in, one of the two University sponsored Student Health Insurance Plans. The Enrollment/Waiver Period for the 2015-2016 academic year begins on June 1, 2015 and ends one month after classes start - October 1, 2015. After that date, students are enrolled in and charged for the least expensive of the University sponsored plans. This charge cannot be removed after the Enrollment/Waiver Period ends.

The two University sponsored student health insurance plans, offered by WPS Insurance, are designed to meet the unique health care needs of Carroll students, and supplement services offered at the on-campus Student Health Center. Information on the options offered for the 2014-2015 academic year is available at Information regarding coverage for the 2015-2016 year will be available late spring.

How to Enroll

Beginning June 1, 2015, full-time students may enroll in one of the University sponsored insurance plans (unfortunately, coverage is not available to part-time students). To do so, a student should log on to his or her student page, choose "MY INFO", choose "Health Insurance Enrollment/Waiver", and choose "Enrollment." Students may enroll in either of the insurance options. A WPS health insurance card will be mailed to a student's permanent address. Students must be registered for and attend the first 30 days of class to remain eligible for coverage. Coverage begins on August 1, 2015. International students should confer with the Office of International Education before enrolling in a University sponsored plan.

How to Request a Waiver

Beginning June 1, 2015 full-time students with other comparable coverage may request a waiver from the University sponsored plans. To request a waiver, a student may log on to his or her student page, choose "MY INFO", and choose "Health Insurance Waiver." The Waiver asks for information about the student's insurance coverage for August 1, 2015 - July 31, 2016. If the coverage is comparable, the fee will be removed from the student's account. Waiver requests are accepted at any time between June 1, 2015 and October 1, 2015. (Please note: Some insurance and/or HMO plans do not provide adequate coverage in the Waukesha area. Families should review coverage carefully before waiving the plans offered by the University.)

Whether students are insured through one of the University sponsored plans or through their own health insurance, students are solely responsible for the cost of all health care needs. If you have questions about either enrolling or waiving student health insurance, please contact Vicky Alf at 262-524-7372 or

Effective July 1, 2015, credit/debit card payments on student accounts will be subject to a "convenience fee" that will result in an additional cost to you. Additional information and frequently asked questions can be found by clicking Convenience Fees.
